CAMILA TÉLLEZ. Building. Methodologies for an incipient architecture

by

“(…) ‘to create a space in which to account for our own intimacy’. The formulation of a voice that ‘accounts for’ is related, for the Institute [of Architecture in Valparaíso], with ‘giving space for’.”

[María Berrios: “Apuntes paratácticos sobre la poesía viva de la Escuela de Valparaíso”. In Eremuak#3, 2016, p. 24.]

2nd or 3rd Floor (Proliferation)

Following the line of investigation followed since 2016 in Planta 0 (in La Karpinteria), Edificio, a project that investigates possible relationships between images, subjective spaces, continues to investigate spatiality, performing spoken images from still images.

In the next stage of construction, Planta 2 o 3 will continue to work through collective encounters in order to examine performative methods and tools –of the gaze and speech– that build dialogue and create tension in relationships of closeness or distance to still images (photographic images exchanged between participants), seeking ways to generate a negative, narrated, altern spatiality between the images and the subjects who constitute it.

The ambiguous architecture of this new floorplan refuses to follow a numerical, consecutive logic in its construction (as is common in physical, vertically constructed buildings). Instead, the indecision and indetermination of its floor numbering is proposed as a tool for movement, a telluric coming and going that allows us to oscillate and doubly or triply cohabit the space we will build.

I intend this residency at Bulegoa z/b to be a time for thinking about latent and multiple spatialities. For thinking about how it could be possible to cohabit a moving space, a state being born between inhabiting and speech, an immaterial, relational building, made up of the collective subjectivity of the people taking part in it.

The project EDIFICIO. Metodologías para una arquitectura naciente / Building. Methodologies for an incipient architecture is funded by the Fábricas de Creación programme, IKERTU, Eusko Jaurlaritza / Basque Government (2017)
