Film screening proposed by Ibon Rodriguez, followed by discussion.

A Bookshelf on Top of the Sky: 12 Stories About John Zorn (Claudia Heuermann, 2002, 82 min)

Subtitled (Euskera)

Some years ago, I translated the subtitles of this and ten other musically related films for a kind of program which never actually took place. I had doubts about this one in particular – not only about the film itself, but about the artist it portrays. I’m not really sure if I want to get rid of those doubts, or if I can.

Ibon Rodríguez (Sestao, 1978) is an active figure on the Basque music scene and has been involved in many different projects since the late nineties. Currently, apart from his solo work as IbonRG, he is a member of Eten, Manett, Plu de Mekanisms, FarFar, and Xabier Montoia’s group. He has also been a member of Le Noise, Gol Portero (with Maite Arroitajauregi “Mursego”) and Biko, among others. He worked with Leire Lopez Ziluaga on the Kafea eta Galletak auditions and book.
