Screening proposed by Laura Díez – Melodie Martín, followed by a talk.
Sound screening: Indagación sobre la forma de los milagros (Riccardo Giacconi 2012).
Indagación sobre la forma de los milagros is a radio documentary that delves into the world of puppets within the Colombian context, and how this field emerged linked to the political and social context of the 70s.
ANTespacio presents this proposal using the non-image, the “sound screening”, and the representations recreated by each individual as a starting point. Sound documentaries open up a greater potential and freedom, in this case made from the specifics of art. There is a confidence in the voices that are not introduced, while there is a play between fiction and reality, always open to doubt and to the imaginary. The fact of listening together turns it into a social event, with a specific atmosphere and layout ssimilar to that of a cinema. Our gaze is not fixed to a predetermined point, so our imagination can be defined by what our sight perceives in the context we are in. We are used to having sound accompanying images, and to the fact that today, radio is listened to individually. This proposal focuses on sound experimentation in relation to radio broadcast, narratives that establish different rhythms, and compositions that try to respond to the saturation of images. Some makers of radio plays say that the end of narratives broadcast on the radio stole people’s chance to dream.
Laura Díez (León, 1987) and Melodie Martín (Legazpi, 1988) (ANTespacio) work together in the development of experimental projects within cultural production. ANTespacio was founded in 2010 with the intention of generating proposals based on other formats and possibilities for the dissemination of contemporary art, focusing mainly on the development of collaborative processes. They are currently publishing the project Exquis Cadavre, and have contributed to the latest edition of Paesaggio, a series of publications made by the Blauer Hase collective.
