In the second edition of Display Series, we present Entremuebles / Entre el mueble y el inmueble (Between the furnishings / Between movable and immovable items). This joint project by Miel Oyarzabal and Xabier Salaberria is the product of a commission to solve a storage problem in an office space which gave rise eventually to an installation proposal.

Display Series is a thread in our programming that focuses on exhibition and installation formats. Our aim is to create a space for encounter where different local and international artists at varying stages of their careers, whose practices have evolved in differing environments, etc. may show their work at the Bulegoa z/b space.

ENTREMUEBLES / ENTRE EL MUEBLE Y EL INMUEBLE. AN INTERVENTION BY MIEL OYARZABAL AND XABIER SALABERRIA

The office is a non-inhabitable space: 70m2, a single space and bathroom separated by doors, electricity, water and drainpipes.

The premises can be considered adequate and sufficient for the setting up of art events, seminars and screenings.

The following are forbidden: animals; inflammable, dangerous or unhygienic materials; storage or manipulation of explosive, inflammable, uncomfortable or unhealthy materials; installing engine transmissions or machines that vibrate or make unpleasant noise for other inhabitants of the building, or may affect its consistency.

The President of the Proprietors’ Association must be allowed entrance to the space, as must any workers carrying out reparations to the premises for the purpose of preserving the state of the building.

* We are applying measures to ensure safety.

Miel Oyarzabal. Currently working as a tourist guide to earn money. The idea of a steady drip calms him like a plant. Recently awarded a production grant at Bilbaoarte, where he has worked for about six months with Ibai Madariaga on a project in which they were seeking to test themselves and share a work process from points of view they thought were not too dissimilar. Both agree the experience would have been much richer had they not had to adapt everything to their work schedules. Luckily, one of the joint pieces they presented to Ertibil 202 was selected and they received a prize for it. This did still not make it possible for them to leave their jobs, and Miel is now wanting: to reencounter some of the blue line drawings and work with Xabier Salaberria on this intervention at Bulegoa z/b, on things that need gloves.
