NOUR BISHOUTY Y ADRIAN SCHINDLER: IN BETWEEN THE VERSES WINGING FROM HILL TO HILL, ALL WAS UTTERLY SILENT
Departing from the biographies of Palestinian intellectual Najati Sidqi and Nour’s grandfather Habib Bishouty, the project explores the slippages between record-making and fiction as grounds for cultural preservation and speculative futurities. Through multidisciplinary and collaborative approaches, it draws on archival material, critical fabulation, and folk tales to reflect on the disjointedness of Palestinian historiography. Songs, pamphlets, and letters function as props in this ongoing research to evoke traversals across borders and time, and to explore their role as acts of resilience within narratives overwritten by systemic erasure.

Nour Bishouty is a multidisciplinary artist working across video, sculpture, works on paper, digital images, and writing. Broadly concerned with gaps in archival memory and the Western production of knowledge and fantasy, her practice explores notions of articulation, permission, and the generative possibilities of misunderstanding. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Museo Universitario del Chopo (Mexico City, Forthcoming 2026), Liverpool Biennial, Cooper Cole (Toronto), Nuit Blanche (Toronto), Art Jameel (Jeddah), La Biennale de Québec, MOCA Toronto, Darat Al Funun (Amman), Casa Árabe (Madrid), Mosaic Rooms (London), and Beirut Art Centre.
Adrian Schindler is a French-German visual artist and filmmaker. By means of a mostly collaborative practice that takes the form of films, performances, installations and public events, he has been examining European fascist and colonial legacies through a biographical lens. Drawing on decolonial theory and critical whiteness, he approaches historical documents as performative tools to address how the past makes itself present in current power relations. His work has been presented at MACBA (Barcelona), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Collection Lambert (Avignon), FID (Marseille), Centre d’art Le Lait (Albi), The Green Parrot (Barcelona), and Mahal Art Space (Tangier), among others.
