Rana Hamadeh will map out\u00a0the theoretical-aesthetic frameworks\u00a0that ground the terminology, referential fields and the aesthetic logics of her works,\u00a0as she\u00a0unpacks several of her longstanding projects, including the\u00a0<\/span>Standard_Deviation<\/span><\/i>\u00a0series,\u00a0<\/span>The Ten Murders of Josephine<\/span><\/i>\u00a0series and the <\/span>Alien Encounters<\/span><\/i> project. Her talk will centre around her understanding of theatre, opera and ‘operatic labour’ as tools of ‘curatorial thinking’.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rana Hamadeh\u2019s presentation <\/span>On Opera as Method<\/span><\/i> is the first event of <\/span>eskuz idatziak, ahoz josiak<\/span><\/i>, a working group whose final aim is to write, imagine and realize an opera. <\/span>Eskuz idatziak, ahoz josiak<\/span><\/i> is the 2024-2026 edition of <\/span>Space is the Place \/ The Place is Space<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Initiated in 2018, the title of this Bulegoa z\/b program paraphrases the 1974 Afrofuturist film by Sun Ra.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rana Hamadeh<\/b> is\u00a0a visual, performance\u00a0and sound\u00a0artist\u00a0whose\u00a0work\u00a0blurs the lines\u00a0between\u00a0theatre,\u00a0film, sound,\u00a0networked media and\u00a0exhibition-making. Since 2016,\u00a0she\u00a0has\u00a0been developing an ‘operatic practice’, experimenting particularly with sound composition\u00a0\u2013 testing out models for extended\/collective\u00a0forms of thinking and study.\u00a0Her years-long projects evolve in sequential chapters, thinking broadly through the epistemologies, economies and technologies of justice \u2014 understanding justice through the optics of measure, spectacle, translation, reproduction and machinic standardization.<\/span><\/p>\n
