With Verde Prato &amp; Sahatsa Jauregi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>EUGENIA PERPETUA BUTLER:<\/b> <b><i>THE BOOK OF LIES<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exhibition open to the public<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From Thursday to Saturday, 4-27 July, 2024.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 5.00 to 8.00 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>VALERIO DEL BAGLIVO &amp; CORAZ\u00d3N DEL SOL:<\/b><b><i> THROUGH A VANISHING POINT<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was in<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1972 when, at the peak of her career as a conceptual artist, Eugenia Perpetua Butler <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1947-2008) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">decided to leave L.A. to enter into contact with the shamanic cultures of Latin America and learn magic. She started her journey in northern Mexico and travelled all the way down south to Cali (Colombia) where she spent 8 years of her life. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her decision to withdraw from the artworld is comparable with similar artistic practices of the time that chose refusal, silence or rejection as acts of political dissidence and forms of self-empowerment. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From then on, invisibility as a form of communication and political action became central to Butler\u2019s works and strategies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is it possible to discuss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> invisibility as a form <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of refusal <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for liberation and rest against the violence of patriarchy norm and power<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through a vanishing point<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is an event with curator Valerio Del Baglivo and artist Coraz\u00f3n del Sol that presents the work of Eugenia Perpetua Butler (Coraz\u00f3n\u2019s mother) and discusses her interest in the nonvisualizable, the unthinkable and the invisible to formalize paths of emancipation and transformation <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">between art, language and life. Eugenia P. Butler\u2019s career lasted over forty years and played a formative, but often overlooked, role at the border between conceptual art, community art practice and experimentation with drawing and language. Her artistic production explored the material, emotional, artistic and psychic labour necessary to meditate on her recondite experiences and traumas. In her own words Butler was interested in the \u201cunknown, the psyche, the world of dreams and the unconscious\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>VERDE PRATO &amp; SAHATSA JAUREGI:<\/b><b><i> 6 ABESTI, 6 ESZENOGRAFIA<br \/>\n<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 abesti, 6 eszenografia <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[6 songs, 6 sets] is a work of musical-sculptural collaboration between Sahatsa Jauregi and Verde Prato in response to the invitation from Bulegoa z\/b to take part in the seventh session of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Material Voices<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The encounter between the works of the two artists will materialize in a concert-performance-sculpture in the space outside the office \u2013 something that will be alive for a brief instant before disappearing forever. Previous collaborations between the two artists have taken diverse forms. In all of them the collision of two imaginations and sensibilities has produced a musical and spatial eclipse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the collaboration of: Andrea Angulo, Hodei Herreros, Gorka Laspiur, Izar Okariz, Kris Ortiz, Javier Ozcoidi, Cata Rubio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>BIOS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Valerio Del Baglivo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a freelance curator based in Italy. His research focuses on research-based artistic practices that analyze the relation between knowledge production, institutional infrastructures and audience engagement, to discuss the social and political role of art. Recently, Del Baglivo was Guest Curator at IASPIS, Stockholm (2022); Associate External Curator at MAXXI &#8211; Museum of XXI Century for the Arts in Rome (2019); and Visiting Curator of UNIDEE at Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella (2018-19).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Coraz\u00f3n del Sol<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a third-generation Los Angeles-based artist. Informally taught by her early access to the arts and subsequent questioning of the arts\u2019 organizing systems, she has a practice rooted in collective sense-making through conversation, movement, video, sculpture, and other experimental modes. Her work has been shown at international institutions such as Sal\u00f3n Nacional 44 Colombia (Colombian National Salon of Artists) and Tabakalera, International Centre for Contemporary Culture, Donostia-San Sebasti\u00e1n. Del Sol has curated shows including\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dysfuctional Formulas of Love\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with co-curator V\u00edctor Albarrac\u00edn Llanos and\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let Power Take a Female Form<\/span><\/i><b>.\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through her community activism and formation of the low-cost housing prototype,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jard\u00edn de Estrellas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, she brings form to her belief that beautiful housing is a fundamental human right. The prototype of the\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jard\u00edn de Estrellas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is installed in The Box parking lot for viewers to see. Lately, her main interest is in connectivity\u2019s ability to dislodge addiction to power that traumas engender.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ana Arsuaga <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Tolosa, 1994) is an artist and musician. She graduated in Fine Arts at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of the Basque Country <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(UPV-EHU), where she completed a Master\u2019s degree in Painting. She has shown her pictorial work in Galer\u00eda H2O, at the meetings organised by the Barcelona Gallery Weekend, and Galeria B eta B (Lekunberry, Nafarroa Behera), amongst others. In the field of music she is developing her solo project Verde Prato, with which she has played at different festivals and concerts, including: Sonar, CCCB (Barcelona), Primavera Sound (Barcelona), BBK Live (Bilbao), Feed the Wave (Mil\u00e1n), MIL (Lisbon) and the international exhibition EXPO DUBAI.\u00a0 In 2022 she received the Musika Bulegoa Saria prize and the Etxepare Euskal Institutua\u2019s MIN Saria prize, both for the best record in Basque. As Verde Prato, she has issue two LPs and three EPs. She has a program on the <\/span><a href=\"about:blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basilika<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> podcast series, and she writes an opinion column on music in the Basque language newspaper <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berria<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sahatsa Jauregi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Itaparica, 1984) is an artist. She lives and works in Bilbao.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> At present she is a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Basque Country <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(UPV-EHU).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> She has recently held one-person shows at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Galer\u00eda The Ryder (Madrid, 2024),<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sagrada Mercanc\u00eda (Santiago de Chile, 2023), Spirit Vessel (Girona, 2023), Artium<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Gasteiz, 2023), Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao, 2022), Aparador Montele\u00f3n (Madrid, 2022), Artiatx<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Bilbao, 2021) and Halfhouse, (Barcelona, 2019). In the last year she has also taken part in the following group shows: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turno de r\u00e9plica, cuesti\u00f3n de piel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Patio Herreriano,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2024) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Larruak eta izurrak<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Tabakalera, 2024). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She has won different prizes:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> New Artists Program in Guip\u00fazcoa 2013, Ertibil first prize 2017, Gure Artea prize 2019 and Premio ARCO Comunidad de Madrid.
