Space is The Place\/The Place is Space<\/i><\/a>. This research project, initiated by Bulegoa z\/b in 2018, aims to analyse the role of art as a critical practice that offers tools to stop, look and position oneself in the world, to generate situations and imagine ways of living and producing space. Structured through periodic meetings, it takes various forms, such as presentations, reading sessions, walks, actions on the territory and various artistic productions.<\/p>\nIN SOME FAR PLACE: BILBAO\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Solokoetxe is a neighborhood in upper Bilbao. It\u2019s home to Bulegoa z\/b, an office of art and knowledge that four women \u2013Beatriz Cavia, Isabel de Naver\u00e1n, Miren Jaio and Leire Vergara\u2013 started 10 years ago. If you look over the railing of the stairs that connect the neighborhood with the Old Town, you will be able to see the Serantes in the distance – cut out against the background as if it were Mount Fuji – and the slopes of other mountains such as Pagasarri or Artxanda. But you will see no evidence of any of the architecture of the new Bilbao.<\/p>\n
The Academy of Roma, in Spain, is also on high ground, at San Pietro in Montorio. On May 3rd at 6:00 p.m. we will share, from one of its terraces, a series of sound images that will help us draw parallels between Bilbao and Rome.<\/p>\n
In qualche luogo lontano: Roma<\/i> is a project carried out within the framework of the MAEC-AECID Scholarships for Art, Education and Culture for the academic year 2020-2021 within the scholarship program for the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.<\/p>\n
