LAS\u00c9N"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>The Power of the Ordinary (Revisited) <\/i>is the first session of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bulegoa.org\/en\/egb\/courses\/permanent-ordinary-seminar\/\">Permanent Ordinary Seminar<\/a>, directed by Elena Casado, Antonio A. Garc\u00eda and Amparo Las\u00e9n. This seminar is a public, collaborative programme by Bulegoa z\/b and <a href=\"https:\/\/sociologiaordinaria.com\/\">Sociolog\u00eda Ordinaria<\/a> which will run in 2020-2021 via a series of conversations and encounters both in person and online.<\/p>\n<p><b>THE POWER OF THE ORDINARY (REVISITED)<br \/>\n<\/b>In January 2014 an invitation arrived from Bulegoa z\/b which we took as an excuse to take a pause and systematize what we were proposing with Sociolog\u00eda Ordinaria. We wondered what it was about Comic Sans, Bel\u00e9n Esteban, or Gand\u00eda Shore, that caused so much irritation and contempt, and what was at stake for us in that consensus. Playing with the different meanings of <i>ordinario<\/i> might give us a clue. <i>Ordinario<\/i> is ordinary, vulgar, inferior, banal. But it also refers to the everyday, routine, or common. And to ways of ordering, categories and hierarchies; although, from subaltern positions these may not necessarily be assumed as either our own or appropriated. Some people might call it empowerment; here we will speak of power and might. Seven years later, this encounter has again become a pretext for making a \u201cclean copy\u201d and sharing what we at Sociolog\u00eda Ordinaria (now a research group with eight yearly encounters behind us) have done or would like to do. Her research has focused on themes including gender relations and practices for constructing meaning, in which her training as a sociologist and philologist intersect. In recent years, chance happenings in education have led her to focus on health, bodies and emotions.<\/p>\n<p><b>Antonio A. Garc\u00eda Garc\u00eda. <\/b>Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid. Member of Sociolog\u00eda Ordinaria. Through asking about masculinities and their ins and outs, his research pursues the implications of manhood in bodies, affect, ways of doing, forms of domesticity and the cultural (re)production of these aspects.<\/p>\n<p><b>Amparo Las\u00e9n.<\/b> Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Complutense, Madrid and a member of Sociolog\u00eda Ordinaria.
