The book   presentation is to be introduced by Bulegoa z\/b and If I Can\u2019t Dance,   and will be accompanied by a lecture titled \u201cTo Be Translated\u201d by   Valc\u00e1rcel Medina. Following the lecture, an after talk will take place   between the artist, Esther Ferrer and Dora Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p><em>18 pictures and 18 stories \/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias<\/em>   is a bilingual (English and Spanish) publication that collects 22   stories that have been told by guest speakers at art institutions all   through 2012, as part of the curatorial research project of the same   name by Bulegoa z\/b. The stories are each inspired by a single photo   from a series of 18 pictures made by Valc\u00e1rcel Medina in 2011. The   photos, taken by Roc\u00edo Are\u00e1n Guti\u00e9rrez and titled <em>Performance in Resistance,<\/em>   were made in response to the invitation to take part in If I Can\u2019t   Dance\u2019s Performance in Residence programme together with Bulegoa z\/b.   The photos depict 18 actions the artist performed in different cities   between 1965 and 1993.<\/p>\n<p><em>18 pictures and 18 stories\u00a0\/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias<\/em>   is designed by Filiep Tacq and includes a reproduction of the photo   series Performance in Resistance by Isidoro Valc\u00e1rcel Medina and text   contributions by: Pierre Bal-Blanc, Koen Brams, Jos\u00e9 D\u00edaz Cuy\u00e1s, Juan   Dom\u00ednguez, Nuria Enguita Mayo, Jon Mikel Euba, Esther Ferrer, Dora   Garc\u00eda, GEACC\u2014Grupo de Estudos em Arte Conceitual e Conceitualismos no   Museu, Moosje Goosen, Isa\u00edas Gri\u00f1olo, Miren Jaio, Manuel Mart\u00ednez Ribas,   Emilio Moreno, Aimar P\u00e9rez Gal\u00ed, Esteban Pujals Gesal\u00ed, Pedro G.   Romero, Isidoro Valc\u00e1rcel Medina, Jaime Vallaure, Myriam Van Imschoot,   Azucena Vieites and Carla Zaccagnini.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012\u00a0<em>18 pictures and 18 stories\u00a0\/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias<\/em>   travelled to If I Can\u2019t Dance at Het Veem Theater, Amsterdam; Bulegoa   z\/b, Bilbao; Fundaci\u00f3 Antoni T\u00e0pies, Barcelona;\u00a0CAC\u00a0Br\u00e9tigny, Greater   Paris;\u00a0BNV\u00a0Producciones, Sevilla; Playground Festival in\u00a0STUK\/Museum M,   Leuven;\u00a0Museu de Arte Contempor\u00e2nea, Universidade de\u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo, MAC  USP,  S\u00e3o Paulo; before its last presentation at Tate Modern, London.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>18 pictures and 18 stories \/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias<\/em>\u00a0is a project accompanying <em>Performance in Resistance<\/em> by Isidoro Valc\u00e1rcel Medina, conceived by Bulegoa z\/b.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshops. 2-3 October 2013<\/strong><br \/>\nBulegoa z\/b and If I Can\u2019t Dance are presenting two workshops on the occasion of the book presentation of\u00a0<em>18 pictures and 18 stories \/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias<\/em>\u00a0in London.<\/p>\n<p>On 2 October at the\u00a0MFA\u00a0Curating at Goldsmiths, Bulegoa z\/b and If I   Can\u2019t Dance are invited to present their respective curatorial   programmes and discuss our collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The following day, on 3 October, Bulegoa z\/b will lead a workshop at   Open School East that takes as working material the 18 pictures of the   series\u00a0<em>Performance in Resistance<\/em>\u00a0by Valc\u00e1rcel Medina and the texts produced within the context of\u00a0<em>18 pictures and 18 stories.<\/em>   Similar to the procedure of the original project, Valc\u00e1rcel Medina  will  be available on the phone to answer the students\u2019 questions.<\/p>\n<p>( <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openschooleast.org\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.openschooleast.org<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p>Etxepare Basque Institute has collaborated in funding these events.<\/p>\n<p><em>18 pictures and 18 stories<\/em> is co-produced by BNV Producciones, Seville; CAC Br\u00e9tigny, Greater Paris; If I Can&#8217;t Dance, I Don&#8217;t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution, Amsterdam; the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (MAC USP); Playground Festival in STUK\/Museum M, Leuven; T\u00e0pies Foundation, Barcelona; Tate Modern, London; and Het Veem Theater, Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<p>The publication and the performances are realized with the support of<em> Corpus: a network for performance practice<\/em> financed by the European Union. <br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"inline inline-left\"><span class=\"inline inline-left\"><span class=\"inline inline-left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"96\" class=\"image image-thumbnail \" title=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/bulegoa.org\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/EU_flag_cult_EN_BW.thumbnail.jpeg\" \/><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"85\" class=\"image image-preview \" title=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/bulegoa.org\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/etxepare_sm_0.jpg\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The publication\u00a018 pictures and 18 stories \/ 18 fotograf\u00edas y 18 historias\u00a0will be launched on 4 October at Tate Modern in London as the conclusion of our research project with Isidoro Valc\u00e1rcel Medina and If I Can\u2019t Dance I Don\u2019t Want To Be Part of Your Revolution in Amsterdam.
