During the session, we will read aloud selected scenes from two Shakespeare plays and then screen several film adaptations of those scenes.<\/p>\n<p>The first play will be <em>Macbeth<\/em>; we&#8217;ll look at excerpts from film adaptations by Orson Welles and Akira Kurosawa. We\u2019ll concentrate on Act I, scene vii and Act III, scene iv.<\/p>\n<p>The second play will be <em>Henry V<\/em>; we&#8217;ll watch excerpts from screen adaptations directed by Kenneth Branagh and Laurence Olivier. The main scene we\u2019ll focus on is Act IV, scene iii.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Gallant<\/strong> is the Executive Director of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, as well as a writer, producer, actor, and teacher. Daniel is the recipient of a 2016 Eisenhower Fellowship and an alumnus of National Arts Strategies\u2019 Chief Executive Program. He previously served as the Director of Theater and Talk Programming at the 92nd Street Y\u2019s Makor and Tribeca centers, and has produced theater, music and charity events throughout New York City. Daniel has been featured in the <em>Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Crain\u2019s New York, the Daily News, Time Out New York and Voice of America<\/em>; and on MTV, NBC, NY1, CBS, NPR, Univision, the BBC and other networks.
