Jos\u00e9 Antonio S\u00e1nchez&#8221;*"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>17:00 &#8211; 21:00<\/p>\n<p>The aim of this seminar is to introduce the concept of theatricality in society and contemporary art practices, and thus discuss the possibility of a dissident theatricality. In order to do this, we will briefly cover the various ways in which theatre has come out of itself, and how other artistic or social practices have turned to theatre. Some materials of contemporary artists who have used the observation and critique of social theatricality as a starting point for their work will also be provided. We will present some lines of critical work associated with concepts such as &#8220;social theatricality&#8221;, &#8220;theatre in the expanded field&#8221;, and &#8220;practices of the real&#8221;, and discuss the proposals of specific artists such as Jesusa Rodr\u00edguez, Rolf Aberhalden, Joaqu\u00edn Jord\u00e1, Roger Bernat, Rimini Protokoll, or H\u00e9ctor Bourges. Finally, a discussion will be proposed around the two concepts that appear in the title of the seminar, &#8220;theatricality&#8221; and &#8220;dissent&#8221;, using two very different texts to start off the debate around the possibility and paradoxes of a practice where both of these concepts act or resonate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jos\u00e9 Antonio S\u00e1nchez.<\/strong>\u00a0Professor, researcher and author of books and texts on aesthetics and contemporary art practice in the field of literature, performing arts and cinema, doctor in philosophy, professor at the Faculty of Fine Art in Cuenca (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uclm.es\" title=\"www.uclm.es\">www.uclm.es<\/a>), and founding member of Artea (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arte-a.org\" title=\"www.arte-a.org\">www.arte-a.org<\/a>). He has published, among others, <em>Brecht y el expresionismo<\/em> (1992), <em>Dramaturgias de la imagen<\/em> (1994 and 1999), <em>La escena moderna<\/em> (1999), <em>Cuerpos sobre blanco<\/em> (2003) and <em>Pr\u00e1cticas de lo real<\/em> (2007 and 012). He is founder and director of the Virtual Archive for Performing Arts (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artescenicas.org\" title=\"www.artescenicas.org\">www.artescenicas.org<\/a>), and was director of <em>Cairon. Revista de Estudios de danza,<\/em> (2007-2011), and co-director of the Master in Performance Practice and Visual Culture (2009-2010).
